• Use a variety of techniques to mix and pour SLU
• Groups will compare notes about mixing / pouring techniques

1:45 Hands on: Prep and Substrate Installation for Walls (NTCA / Manufacturer)
• Inspect vertical substrates and/or framing for flatness, plumb
and square
• Follow manufacturer instructions to install substrate on walls for a
flat, plumb and square tile installation and to meet industry
required standards for flatness for large format tile

3:00 Break

3:15 Hands on: Prep and Substrate Installation for Floors (NTCA / Manufacturer)
• Follow manufacturer instructions to install CBU on floors.

3:45 Hands on: Mortar Selection, Mixing and Bond Coat Coverage for
Large Format Tile
• Mix mortar per manufacturer instructions
• Trowel selection and proper application of mortar to ensure
proper bond coat thickness and coverage for large format tile in
dry and wet areas on walls and floors
