Consultants provide many different services for the tile
industry. Here are a few examples:
- Quality Control
In many commercial projects and even in some residential situations, qualified tile industry consultants are hired to ensure that installation crews are adhering to standards and best practices. They work with
job superintendents and crew leaders to make sure the crews are following manufacturer recommendations in order to ensure a successful installation. At times, mock ups are constructed to serve as an example of the proper installation procedure
for the crews to follow.
- Jobsite Investigations
Consultants are brought in often when all efforts to resolve a dispute related to a tile or stone installation are not satisfied. When a consultant is hired, their process includes a forensic investigation
and a written report that describes their findings. They also play a role in trying to find a resolution as quickly as possible.
- Telephone or Online Inspections
Some consultants are willing to view a project remotely for a fee. Although this is not an ideal situation, sometimes a consultant can identify a cause by viewing photographs and by obtaining details
surrounding the installation process. NTCA does not encourage this process, but many times this is necessary due to a lack of available consultants in an area and the significant costs that can be added to the overall project related to travel
expenses. This type of inspection usually occurs in a residential job complaint.
