Christopher Walker, our newly installed president of NTCA and has more than more than 30 years’ experience in the Tile and Natural Stone industry including the last 9 years as a regional Vice President with the David Allen Company. Chris manages the Metro Washington DC location and David Allen Company operations north of Richmond Virginia.
David Allen Company was founded in 1920 by David G. Allen and is celebrating its 99th year in the industry. David Allen Company is one of the original NTCA Five Star Contractors and is recognized as one of the nation’s largest and most experienced tile, marble, and terrazzo contractors with over 500 employees and craft professionals performing complex and award-winning installations every year. David Allen has offices in Raleigh, NC; Washington DC; Charlotte, NC; Birmingham, AL; Columbia, SC and Miami, FL. Chris was previously an officer of the Port Morris Tile and Terrazzo Company with responsibility for New Jersey and Pennsylvania Port Morris operations. Port Morris has been associated with a tradition of excellence for over 115 years as one of the nation’s largest premier signatory Tile, Marble and Terrazzo companies. Port Morris was one of the original TCAA Trowel of Excellence Contractors.
Chris’s industry experience includes a large variety of successful tile installations in some of the nations’ most prestigious buildings in the Washington DC and New York City markets. Projects as diverse as The White House Visitors Center to the Renovation of Grand Central Terminal and others throughout the Washington DC, New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania markets.
Chris also serves the industry as the Chairman of the ANSI A-108 Committee and Chairman of the US TAG TC-189 Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors for Associated Builders and Contractors of Virginia, the NTCA Technical Committee, the NTCA Methods and Standards Committee, the TCNA - Tile Council of North America Installation Handbook and the NTCA National Tile Contractors Association Technical Committees. Chris was formally the Technical representative and voting representative the TCAA-Tile Contractors Association of America to the TCNA Handbook. Chris has also served on the NTCA Executive Committee for the last four years.
For 20 years in his various roles as technical representative for industry associations, Chris has been a tireless advocate for the tile consumer and installation contractor. Chris has been instrumental in assisting in revisions that have directly impacted methods, language and installation terminology that are intended to provide improvements affecting all of us in the tile community. As ANSI Chair and NTCA’s voting member on the TCNA Handbook, Chris has had a significant impact in facilitating changes that have provided positive outcomes for the professional tile installer. Chris’s 30-year participation in industry trade shows, training events and his productive collaboration with industry leadership, have provided Chris the opportunity to actively participate and positively influence our industry’s direction and progress.
According to Chris, his most important responsibility is being the Husband of Elena and Father to Madison and Christopher.
